FanDuel Spoof Social Ad
Client:
Personal Project
Role:
Creative Direction, Design, 2D Animation
This was a just for fun project where I set out to create a 15 second spoof ad for the FanDuel Sportsbook app. The concept was to make it look and sound like a real promo but twist the message to highlight how much money people actually lose sports betting, delivered with a wink and a bit of uncomfortable honesty. The goal was to mirror the high energy and hype filled tone of real gambling ads but flip it in a way that feels subtle, ironic, and almost too real. If you are casually scrolling it might fool you for a second. I wanted to walk the line between parody and authenticity, keeping the design tight and the motion slick so it still felt like a legit piece of brand content.
Step 1: Concept, Script and Visual Development
I started by writing the script and figuring out how to strike the right tone. I picked A Milli by Lil Wayne as the soundtrack because it carries that overconfident swagger that fit the vibe perfectly. I edited it down in Premiere Pro to fit the 15 second run time, and mapped out moments in the track to plan out pacing and transitions. Then I designed the styleframes utilizing Adobe Illustrator and After Effects, using the visual style from FanDuel's branding as a reference while letting the content do the heavy lifting on the irony.
Below are some styleframes from early on in the process.

Step 2: Animation and Execution
With the visuals and audio in place, I brought everything into After Effects to animate the full piece. The motion is sharp and timed tightly to the beat, maintaining the illusion of a real ad. The result is a fast, polished spot that feels right at home in a social feed.
